TRAUMA-INFORMED INDIVIDUAL & GROUP THERAPY  NO GROUPS FOR NOW

I often believe that the most effective treatment for clients is individual therapy. What could be more productive than individualized, one-on-one attention from an attuned and empathic therapist? I encourage clients to explore their past from the gentle, compassionate (and curious) approach to healing with Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. But another approach, or maybe a compliment, is the incredibly valuable experience of engaging with others who share similar stories of childhood abuse, neglect, trauma, poverty, violence, loss, and bullying and who acknowledge the formidable disconnect and dysregulation that results.  Or maybe you share traumatic experiences as adults.  Either way, receiving (and giving) validation, learning that we share a common humanity, discovering the importance of empathic and supportive relationships, all contribute to healing.  And these play out in every group session.

To make the best of both therapies, I developed a trauma-informed program four years ago at an Austin-based clinic that includes both group AND individual venues, ergo the GROUP"+" in the above tab.  I am now offering similar services in a private, day and evening practice for people who need schedule flexibility in their complex lives.  I am happy to offer a free phone consultation to explore the most beneficial combination of services for you that can be adjusted to your ongoing needs. Please visit the "Times/Fees" tab for complete details on scheduling and costs.

WHO DOES THIS TRAUMA-INFORMED PROGRAM HELP?
So what do I mean by trauma?  There are as many examples of trauma as there are traumatized individuals; each person has their unique story to tell.  But the outcomes are always the same:  some combination of PTSD, depression, anxiety, lack of self-worth, hopelessness, insomnia, inability to focus/concentrate, hypervigilance, nightmares, flashbacks, helplessness, panic attacks, isolation, avoidance, dissociation. If you believe that you have experienced trauma, I welcome you into my group or individual therapy practice.
